About the ABA Law Library Collection Periodicals

In addition to the ABA Journal, the American Bar Association publishes more than 100 specialty periodicals. The current volumes of these publications represent the most relevant legal information in every subject relating to American law, while the back files place the legal field in the context of its time. HeinOnline is pleased to present a comprehensive digital version of these publications in its ABA Law Library Collection Periodicals database.  

Within the database, legal researchers will find both the current and historical volumes of all ABA periodicals. The program materials from the National Institutes from 2012 to date have also been included, as they represent original analyses of legal developments in particular legal disciplines.

The ABA Journal has been the trusted voice of the legal profession for more than 100 years, and is the gateway to the $400 billion legal services industry. The magazine reaches partners and associates, solos and big firm lawyers, government officials, judges, and in-house counsel. The Journal informs decision-makers on the trends, people, and economics forces that shape the practice of law. 

The ABA Journal of Labor & Employment Law is distributed three times each year to all members of the Section. The Journal (formerly The Labor Lawyer) has been published since 1985. The Journal is committed to providing balanced discussions of current developments in labor and employment law to meet the practical needs of attorneys, judges, administrators, and the public. Articles published reflect the diversity of practice areas and perspectives in the Section.

The Administrative Law Review is published quarterly by students of the American University Washington College of Law in conjunction with the American Bar Association’s Section of Administrative Law and Regulator Practice. Regularly publishing symposia, conferences, and meetings on current topics in administrative law, the journal strives to develop legal research and writing skills in students while providing materials toserve both practitioners and academicians. 

Antitrust Law Journal is published three times each year by the American Bar Association Section of Antitrust Law as a service to its members and for the benefit of lawyers practicing in the fields of antitrust and trade regulation law. The journal publishes, among other things, original articles, comments, and essays on significant current issues of antitrust and trade regulation law, selected materials from the Section’s Spring and Annual Meetings (and other continuing legal education programs), and reports, resolutions, and comments prepared by the Section and its committees. 

Antitrust is a triannual magazine published by the American Bar Association Section of Antitrust Law in December (Fall), March (Spring), and July (Summer). Issues may include cover stories on a theme, other articles and features, developments, interviews, a letter from the Section chair, letters to the editor, and advertisements for Section periodicals and programs.

Published quarterly, The Business Lawyer is the premier business law journal in the country, circulating to approximately 40,000 readers. It contains articles of significant interest to the business lawyer, including case law analysis and developing trends.

Criminal Justice is a quarterly magazine published by the Criminal Justice Section of the American Bar Association. The magazine is intended for a national audience of defense lawyers, prosecutors, judges, academics, and other criminal justice professionals with a focus on the practice and policy issues of the criminal justice system. Each issue includes feature articles, as well as regular columns. 

The Entertainment and Sports Lawyer is directed at lawyers who devote a major portion of their practice to entertainment, sports, arts, intellectual property law, and other related areas. It endeavors to provide current, practical information as well as public policy and scholarly viewpoints that it believes to be of professional and academic interest to Forum members and other readers. 

This scholarly journal keeps practitioners current with an analytical view of existing and emerging family law issues. In addition to the wealth of knowledge offered by timely, topical articles, the annual Winter issue features a review of the year in family law. 

Human Rights is an award-winning quarterly magazine published quarterly by ABA Publishing. For decades, it has been a trusted source of expert ideas, opinions, and discourse on a diverse array of topics in the human and civil rights arena. 

The International Lawyer is the official triannual publication of the American Bar Association’s Section of International Law. The ABA published the inaugural issue of The International Lawyer in 1966, and SMU has been the proud home of this prestigious journal since 1986. Since then, the journal has grown to become the most widely distributed U.S. international law review in the world, focusing on practical issues of international law, including trade, licensing, direct investment, finance, taxation, litigation, and dispute resolution.

The Judicial Division’s award-winning quarterly Judges’ Journal is one of the nation’s foremost judicial journals and the authoritative source on innovations in the justice system. The Judges’ Journal is designed to keep members current on issues affecting the courts and promote discussion about the direction of the judicial process. 

Jurimetrics Journal is a quarterly electronic law review published by the ABA Section of Science & Technology Law and the Center for Law, Science & Innovation of the Sandra Day O’Connor College of Law at Arizona State University. The journal is committed to analyzing, commenting on, critiquing, and predicting the legal and governance issues posed by science and technology.

Law Practice is a bi-monthly publication dedicated to helping legal professionals master all aspects of the business of practicing law. From theory to practice, the journal brings readers insight and fresh advice on marketing, management, technology, and finance. 

Includes materials which discuss how law, lawyers, and the legal system are portrayed in motion pictures and television programs.

The quarterly Public Contract Law Journal, the Section of Public Contract Law’s flagship publication, is dedicated exclusively, yet broadly, to public contract and grant law and related areas of practice. A focal point for the examination of timely legal issues confronting the judiciary, administrative tribunals, and the bar, the journal presents editorial coverage that mirrors the interest of its membership and seeks to solicit and present the multiplicity of views within the Section. 

The Real Property, Trust and Estate Law Journal is a scholarly journal published three times annually by the Real Property, Trust and Estate Law Section, with assistance from the University of South Carolina School of Law. 

The Tax Lawyer is the nation’s premier, peer-reviewed tax law journal, published quarterly by the ABA Section of Taxation with the assistance of the Georgetown University Law Center and its students. The journal endeavors to provide scholarly articles by notable tax attorneys and professors, key reports by Section of Taxation committees and task forces, and student notes and comments on timely topics that the editorial board believes to be of professional interest to members of the Section and the tax profession.

The Tort Trial & Insurance Practice Law Journal, the quarterly scholarly publication of the ABA Tort Trial and Insurance Practice Section, is committed to the publication of articles that present analysis and insight into issues affecting the broad scope of tort and insurance law and practice. The journal welcomes original articles dealing with current and emerging issues of national scope from members of the bar.

The Urban Lawyer, published by the ABA Section of State and Local Government, is the national quarterly law journal on local government law and urban legal affairs, including land use, government operations, the environment, public education, public transportation, and more.
