Back in January, we enhanced the one-box search function on the Welcome Page. In addition to being able to search the text of all subscribed collections, users were given the ability to search the catalog fields and also to search for material by Bluebook citation. We have recently added yet another enhancement to one-box searching! Users can now narrow their search to a specific collection from this tool. Once you are logged into HeinOnline, simply select one particular library before utilizing the search box.
For example, if you would like to search for any U.S. Congressional Documents contained in HeinOnline that pertain to the topic of homeland security and Senator Charles Schumer:
From there, if you would like to narrow your search results, you can use the facets on the left side of the screen. If you are only interested in Congressional hearings from 2006-current, select the corresponding document type and date facets, and your results will narrow from 1455 to a much more manageable 112.
As with any search in HeinOnline, clicking "Search Help" will display the proper search syntax. Access our Searching 101 and Advanced Search Syntax Guides from the Search tab in any HeinOnline collection.
Of course, you can still search across all subscribed libraries by leaving the drop-down menu at the default of searching All Subscribed Collections. If you would like to search across multiple collections, ensure that All Subscribed Collections is selected, and then choose the desired collections from the facets on the left side of the screen:
