Where can a researcher find the Official Gazette of the United States Patent and Trademark Office: Patents or Official Gazette of the United States Patent and Trademark Office: Trademarks? HeinOnline's Intellectual Property Law Collection now contains access to the full run of both Official Gazettes, which began as the Official Gazette of the United States Patent Office and in 1971 separated into two Gazettes with categories of Trademarks and Patents. Effective with the May 2014 content release, HeinOnline now includes the full archives of both sets!
The Official Gazette: Trademarks print version ceased in December of 2012 but continues to be published electronically. HeinOnline contains the full run of this title from 1974 to date, totaling over 1.1 million pages!
The USPTO discontinued printing the Official Gazette: Patents in September of 2002 and stopped selling subscriptions in December 2011. HeinOnline has the complete contents of this title from 1872 through 2002, comprising a total of nearly 2.5 million pages. A convenient link to the content from 2002 to date is provided.
Both titles combined contain over 3.6 million pages; the full run of both Gazettes would occupy 7,200 feet of shelf space or 200 standard 36" shelves.
In addition to the Official Gazettes, the Index of Patents Issued from the United States Patent and Trademark Office, an 82 volume set covering 1920-2002, is available in the USPTO section of the Intellectual Property Law Collection.
When the Intellectual Property Law Collection was released in 2010, it contained just over 1.8 million pages. Today, the collection contains an impressive 638 titles, 6,463 volumes, and over 6.1 million pages!
