We Researched Shadow Docket Rulings from the Supreme Court

In a recent 5-4 ruling, the Supreme Court of the United States issued a shadow docket refusing to block a Texas law banning abortion after six weeks. This new law violates the 1973 landmark decision Roe v. Wade, which declared a pregnant person has a constitutional right to an abortion. Learn more about shadow docket rulings and the new Texas abortion law in this blog post.

We Indexed Another State for the Session Laws Indexing Project

We continue to expand state session laws indexing for all states back to inception. Since our last update, we have completed the indexing for Wisconsin. Check out the current status of the Session Laws indexing project.

We Explored the History of Banned Books Week

Banned Books Week, the theme of which this year is “Books Unite Us. Censorship Divides Us,” is sponsored by a variety of organizations, including the American Library Association (ALA), American Booksellers Association, and the Freedom to Read Foundation, and is endorsed by the Center for the Book in the Library of Congress. Read more about Banned Books Week in this blog post.

We’ve added a ton of content to some of our most popular HeinOnline databases! Check out the substantial additions this month:

  • The Law Journal Library continues to grow with the addition of seven new journals.
  • Nearly 200 volumes were added to Annals of the American Academy of Political and Social Science!
  • 116 hearings, 83 CRS reports, and 5 committee prints were added to the U.S. Congressional Documents database.
  • 196 titles were added to Preview of United States Supreme Court Cases.
  • More than 100 titles were added to American Enterprise Institute (AEI).
  • Nearly 80 titles were added to GAO Reports and Comptroller General Decisions.
  • Legal Classics grew by 73 titles.
  • Criminal Justice & Criminologygrew by nearly 60 titles.
  • More than 30 titles were added to ABA Law Library Collection Periodicals.
