New Journals Added to HeinOnline: August 2022

With the August content release, we added 10 new journals, nine which are active serials and four of which are from our agreement with Springer. These new journals cover subjects including gender and the law, air and space law, environmental law, and more! Keep reading to learn all about these publications.


1. Columbia Undergraduate Law Review

The goal of the Columbia Undergraduate Law Review is to provide Columbia University and the public with an opportunity for the discussion of law-related ideas and the publication of undergraduate legal scholarship. For many undergraduates and non-law students, important legal issues are often rendered unapproachable, vague, or overly complex. It is their mission to enrich the academic and extracurricular life of our undergraduate community by providing a forum where debate and discourse regarding the law—augmented by scholarly research—can flourish.

Crime, Law and Social Change publishes peer-reviewed, original research articles addressing crime and the political economy of crime, whether at the global, national, regional or local levels, anywhere in the world. The journal often presents work on financial crime, corruption, organized criminal groups, criminal enterprises and illegal markets, state crime, terrorism and security issues, cybercrime, cross-border crime and environmental crime. In addition, Crime, Law and Social Change welcomes criminological research in the areas of human rights, comparative and international criminal justice, compensation and justice for serious crime victims, international criminal law and cooperation. Finally, the journal publishes multi-disciplinary criminological research focusing on gender, age, racial and ethnic equality issues.


3. International Journal of Legal and Social Order

The International Journal of Legal and Social Order (IJLSO) publishes articles in the field of law, aiming at international visibility both through the scientific profile of the authors and through topics of interest to the scientific community. This journal is aimed at researchers, PhD students, and individuals interested in issues related to the interdependence between law and order in the context of sustainable development.

Published quarterly, the Journal of Banking Regulation offers detailed, insightful coverage of a wide range of relevant topics. Among the security issues addressed are deposit protection; banking supervision; enforcement decisions in banking regulation; corporate governance in banks; anti-money laundering legislation and regulations. International banking is also examined, with coverage of the Basel Accords, cross-border competition in banking services; international accounting standards; cross-border regulation; and cross-border bank insolvency. Management of funds is another area accorded extensive attention, including harmonization in banking markets; monetary integration; models for banking risk; credit risk supervision; capital adequacy; and systemic risk in banking operations.


5. Journal of Energy and Development

The Journal of Energy and Development began in 1975 in the wake of the first energy crisis. More than three decades later, we are still dealing with some of the same issues globally: energy supply and demand balances, oil price volatility, geopolitics, energy independence, conservation, alternative energy sources, and sustainable economic development. The journal offers an information outlet for academics, industry, and government to share their research and findings. This is a refereed journal published bi-annually.


6. Journal of Free Speech Law

Subjects: First Amendment, Communications Law, Science, Technology, and the Law

The Journal of Free Speech Law features articles on speech, press, and assembly from various approaches, including doctrinal, theoretical, historical, and empirical. In addition, readers can find articles on the First Amendment, state constitutional free speech provisions, federal and state statutes, common-law rules, and regulations protecting or restricting speech, or private organizations’ speech regulations.

8. KDU Law Journal

KDU Law Journal (KDULJ) is a compilation of peer-reviewed articles on various fields of law. It serves as a forum for the presentation, scrutiny, and discussion of legal research by local and international scholars. Its target audience is professionals, academics, students, and the general public. KDULJ welcomes academic research, recent case studies, and analyses in the area of law. KDULJ is a bi-annual publication.


9. Natur und Recht

Subjects: Air and Space Law, Air Transport, Aviation, Environmental Protection

Natur und Recht focuses on the law of ecological nature and environmental protection. In addition, law that affects nature is also dealt with, including construction and specialist planning law. Emission control, waste, water, soil protection, and state planning law are also part of the range of topics, as are environmentally relevant hunting, fishing, forestry, and agricultural law. The journal also focuses on animal protection and monument protection law.
