What’s New in HeinOnline & Coming Soon

U.S. State Commitments with Foreign Governments
2025 AALL New Product Award Winner

Gain unprecedented access to more than 750 previously unpublished agreements between U.S. states and foreign governments—including over 100 involving Canada—in this groundbreaking collection. Compiled through over 650 Freedom of Information Act requests to major state agencies across the country, this resource serves as a subnational analogue to official U.S. treaty compilations like United States Treaties and Other International Agreements (UST) and Treaties and Other International Acts Series (TIAS).

Complete Periodical Literature of Law Librarianship
2025 AALL Joseph L. Andrews Legal Literature Award Winner

This resource is the first fully searchable, annotated bibliography of more than 5,000 articles focused on law librarianship in the U.S. and Canada. Each article was carefully reviewed by the editors, who crafted a custom annotation to provide valuable context. Every entry is enriched with key metadata, including significance ratings (landmark, historical, or continuing value), subject headings, and library type, making it an indispensable tool for targeted research in the field of law librarianship.

Organization of American States (OAS)
Coming Soon

Developed in collaboration with the Organization of American States (OAS) and the Columbus Memorial Library, this collection preserves and provides access to the Classification Manual for the OAS Official Records Series. Researchers can explore official records from all 34 independent countries of the Americas that are OAS members. This resource is a valuable asset for those studying international relations, Inter-American and Pan-American studies, and the workings of intergovernmental affairs across the Western Hemisphere.

Environmental Law Collection
Coming Soon

This collection is curated across 25+ focused subjects, including climate change, pollution, environmental justice, renewable energy, and more. Featuring leading titles from Duke University Press and UNC Press, it offers deep coverage of environmental policy, conservation, ecological history, and sustainability. The collection also integrates foundational statutes such as the Clean Air Act, Clean Water Act, and CERCLA, alongside related hearings, reports, CFR Title 40, and real-world case law developments, providing a robust foundation for environmental legal research.

American Bar Association Publication Archive
Coming Soon

Coming soon to your favorite research platform is a digital archive of American Bar Association (ABA) publications built from Hein’s extensive ABA microfiche collection. This archive includes thousands of publications spanning various sections, committees, institutes, and governing bodies, offering unique content that complements the ABA Law Library Periodicals with distinct, non-overlapping material. Each title includes MARC records for easy cataloging, and discounts are available for current subscribers to the ABA Law Library Periodicals or Hein’s microfiche archive.

Not Just Business, All the Fun from the HeinOnline Booth

The HeinOnline booth was more than just a place to talk research—it was a full-on experience. We pulled out all the stops to make our booth a memorable stop on the exhibit floor.

This year’s giveaways were designed to turn heads and start conversations. Attendees who joined us for a live demo or contributed to our AI discussion walked away with exclusive HeinOnline swag, including our hit “Librarians: The Original AI” t-shirt and the crowd-favorite backpack cooler.

AI was one of the most buzzed-about topics at AALL, and we wanted to hear directly from you. Our community feedback board sparked meaningful dialogue about the evolving role of artificial intelligence in research and librarianship. Whether attendees were excited, skeptical, or somewhere in between, we loved seeing your thoughts, questions, and post-it note insights come to life on the board.

Back by popular demand, HeinOnline & Friends Bingo brought a dose of friendly competition to the exhibit hall. The prize? A chance to win a $1,000 VISA gift card, plus the fun of exploring new tools and making vendor connections along the way. Thanks to everyone who filled their boards and joined in the action!

Passed the Vibe Check and the Bar (Exam)

What do you get when you mix brilliant librarians, trivia buzz, and a venue full of energy? Pub trivia!

Hosted by HeinOnline and MC’d by trivia trailblazer Scott Vanderlin of the University of Chicago, this wasn’t just any pub trivia night—it was the long-awaited return of a beloved tradition. Originally launched in 2016 by the Chicago Association of Law Libraries (CALL) and Scott himself, the event roared back to life last year in Chicago with a packed house and high demand. And this year in Portland? We stepped it up.

With a packed crowd, spirited teams, and a buzz of excitement in the air, the night was nothing short of unforgettable. Whether you were there to win it all or just wind down, there was something for every partygoer.

Here’s to making learning fun, even off the clock.

Looking Ahead to 2026

As we bring our AALL 2025 recap to a close, we want to express our sincere gratitude to everyone who stopped by the HeinOnline booth, attended a demo, joined our Pub Trivia night, or simply took a moment to connect with us. Your energy, curiosity, and support made this milestone year truly unforgettable.

Celebrating 25 years of HeinOnline alongside such a passionate and inspiring community was the perfect reminder of why we do what we do. Your engagement drives us to innovate, listen, and evolve—always with your research needs in mind.

We hope you enjoyed the conference as much as we did, and we’re already counting down the days until we can see you again at AALL 2026 in Cleveland, OH. Until then, stay in touch, keep exploring HeinOnline, and thank you for being a part of our story.
