HeinOnline has always been receptive to customer feedback—many of our best tools have resulted from users' ideas. We offer multiple methods of feedback submission, including email, phone, live chat, a feedback form, and social media. Recently, we were able to implement two new features in our print/download tool, thanks to users' suggestions.

As you know, HeinOnline released its updated interface in August. Since then, we have continued to enhance existing tools and add new features to improve our users' experience. Over the past two weeks, we've announced some awesome new features: first, the ability to e-mail a direct PDF link; last week, we blogged about updated print/download options, which include the ability to instantly download a PDF from HeinOnline.

Streamlined PDF Download Option Now Available!

HeinOnline has long enjoyed a reputation of being extremely responsive to its customers' feedback. Recently, a user tweeted that it was more difficult than necessary to obtain and use PDFs from HeinOnline. We followed up with him via e-mail and received some excellent suggestions to help us make accessing PDFs easier for users.

We are pleased to introduce the "instant PDF download" feature of HeinOnline as the direct result of this customer's tweet! From search results or from inside a HeinOnline document, simply click the red PDF icon to instantly download a PDF of the desired section, provided the section does not exceed 200 pages. New Feature: E-mail a Direct PDF Link from HeinOnline!

Thanks to a fantastic suggestion from Amy Wright, Co-Director of the University of San Francisco School of Law Library, we have added the ability to e-mail direct PDF links from HeinOnline! This can be done both from search results and from inside any document in HeinOnline.

Search Results

To e-mail a PDF from search results, click the e-mail icon located on the right side of the search result:

This opens a window with several fields into which you can enter one or more e-mail addresses, a from name, subject and message:

The recipient of the e-mail is able to click the link to access a PDF of the document…

HeinOnline Training Videos: What Would You Like to Learn?

We are in the process of updating all training material on our help page, help.heinonline.org. We have recently added this video, which discusses how to print PDFs using HeinOnline. We plan to add at least two new videos every month.

The Print/Download Option (Printer Icon) Has Moved in HeinOnline!

Don't be alarmed when you go to click the printer icon in the upper right hand corner of the page toolbar and it's not there! After a significant amount of customer feedback and suggestions, we have moved the printer icon from the far right to the middle of the page toolbar. Now the printer icon is the first icon to the right of the page forward button.

The print/download options are still available from your MyHein saved bookmarks list, as well as from your search results. Those options remain unchanged.

Have you ever found yourself spending too much time going back and forth to the printer? You sit down, find the first article you're looking for, click print and then get up to go retrieve it. You come back, find another article, hit print, get up to go retrieve it, come back and so on. Or, have you ever simply wanted to print 2 or 3 articles at one time? If either of these applies to you, then you may find this shortcut helpful!
