Vaccine law has been a subject of interest in the United States since the introduction of the process of vaccination for smallpox in the 1890s. Indeed, the first federal public health law ever enacted in the country was an 1813 measure to promote vaccination through providing a supply of vaccine matter.

In response to the ever-evolving state of vaccine law and its legal complexities, the authors have put together critical references in one resource, including federal and state statutes and regulations, encyclopedias, legal and scientific articles, and practice books. With an audience of professionals in the legal system and public health in mind, it is the sincere hope of the authors that the references presented in this bibliography are used to promote understanding of vaccine law.
