FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
HeinOnline Adds the Dispute Resolution Journal Archive in Partnership with the American Arbitration Association
February 23, 2026
February 2026. HeinOnline, a product of William S. Hein & Co., Inc., is proud to announce the addition of the Dispute Resolution Journal to its Law Journal Library, in partnership with the American Arbitration Association (AAA). This new archive celebrates the AAA’s 100th anniversary and marks a significant milestone in preserving and expanding access to one of the most influential journals in arbitration and alternative dispute resolution (ADR).
Published by the American Arbitration Association and the International Centre for Dispute Resolution (ICDR), the Dispute Resolution Journal has long served as the AAA’s flagship publication. Spanning nearly nine decades of scholarship—from the journal’s earliest volumes in the 1930s through today—this long-requested title is now digitized for the first time and made fully searchable and accessible to researchers worldwide.
A Flagship Journal with a Lasting Legacy
For nearly a century, the Dispute Resolution Journal has documented the evolution of arbitration and mediation, offering practical guidance and scholarly insight from leading practitioners, academics, and institutions. The journal has long bridged theory and practice, providing accessible analysis on developments in ADR across commercial, labor, international, and public disputes.
Now available in HeinOnline, the archive includes a wide range of content, such as:
- In-depth scholarly articles
- Expert opinion and commentary
- ADR-focused court decisions
- Book reviews and special columns
- Coverage of emerging trends and developments in dispute resolution
A Complete Archive, Digitized for the First Time
As part of this collaboration, HeinOnline worked closely with the AAA to digitize historic print volumes that were previously available only in limited physical or scanned formats. These materials have been unified into a single, uninterrupted digital collection.
Subscribers to HeinOnline’s Law Journal Library benefit from:
- Complete coverage from the journal’s inception to the present
- High-resolution, image-based PDFs preserving original layouts
- Rich metadata and full text searchability
- Consistent title history across the journal’s evolution
- Seamless integration with HeinOnline’s broader arbitration and ADR resources
Honoring a Shared History
The partnership behind this project reconnects two organizations with deep, shared roots in legal publishing. With our recent centennial and the American Arbitration Association celebrating theirs, this collaboration represents nearly 200 combined years of mission-driven work in service of legal research and access.
In preparing to celebrate the American Arbitration Association’s 100-year anniversary in 2026, there was only one company capable of tracking down every back issue of the Dispute Resolution Journal—the HeinOnline team. Shane Marmion and his team did that and more, helping us to showcase archive articles throughout the year and making it available for wider distribution to peer publishers. That William S. Hein & Company were among the first distributors of the Dispute Resolution Journal in the 1930s and 40s appropriately brings both organizations back together.
Steve Errick
Chief Development Officer, American Arbitration Association
We are deeply grateful to the American Arbitration Association—and to Steve Errick and his team—for partnering with William S. Hein & Company on the digitization of the Dispute Resolution Journal. Preserving and expanding access to authoritative legal scholarship is central to Hein’s mission, and it is an honor to help ensure that the AAA’s rich archival history is discoverable and accessible to researchers worldwide through HeinOnline. We are proud to add such a prestigious and influential journal to HeinOnline and to continue a partnership that meaningfully connects our shared past with the future of legal research.
