About Brexit

Short for ‘British exit from the European Union’, Brexit is the impending withdrawal of the United Kingdom from the European Union. The UK joined the European Communities in 1973, so its imminent exit from the European Union is a massive and controversial undertaking. This departure, expected in March of 2019, is certain to have consequences affecting all sectors of both UK and EU economies.

Professor Brian F. Havel authored the upcoming article How Brexit Can Transform the Governance of Global Civil Aviation, which comprehensively analyzes the legal and policy consequences of Brexit for UK, EU, and US airline industries. A preview of this article is now available, and the official version will be published in November in the Annals of Air and Space Law, available via HeinOnline’s McGill Institute of Air and Space Law Publications.
