DEAR VALUED CUSTOMER,
It’s difficult to believe that the busy holiday season is nearly upon us and 2018 is quickly coming to an end! HeinOnline, determined as always to close the year on a high note, is pleased to present another strong content release.
Last month, we officially released Phase I of the U.S. Congressional Serial Set in HeinOnline, which initially consisted of 3.8 million pages of content. Since then, we have already added an additional 425 volumes and 350,000 pages to the collection. We will continue to need the help of the library community to complete this project.
Three new volumes of Supreme Court of the United States: Hearings on Successful and Unsuccessful Nominations of Supreme Court Justices by the Senate Judiciary Committee have been added, a new book in Hein’s Legal Research Guides Series is now available, and content exclusive to HeinOnline can help readers make sense of the complicated Brexit situation.
In addition to some great new content, our ever-popular Author Profile Pages now have a new metric and enhanced appearance.

The Law Journal Library continues to grow with the addition of 12 new journals this month. Additionally, more than 100 titles were added to the Legal Classics Library, more than 60 new titles were added to Slavery in America and the World: History, Culture & Law, and nearly 40 titles were added to Taxation & Economic Reform in America Parts I & II. Altogether, more than X titles have been added to various databases in HeinOnline, which are noted in this month’s content release.
The U.S. Congressional Serial Set was released in HeinOnline last month and was included at no additional charge for HeinOnline Academic subscribers, Core+ subscribers, and subscribers of HeinOnline’s U.S. Congressional Documents.
The first update to the Serial Set is now available which includes more than 400 volumes and 350,000 pages of content! More than 86% of the Serial Set is currently available in HeinOnline or via HathiTrust Digital Library.
Thanks to a suggestion from Professor Orin Kerr at University of Southern California Gould School of Law, Author Profile Pages have been updated to include a new metric: average citation per article. This metric does not count toward an author’s overall ScholarCheck ranking. In addition, the appearance of Author Profile Pages has been enhanced.
HeinOnline’s search syntax has also been updated to include new searching options.
HeinOnline is a great place to research issues making headlines in today’s news. Better yet, since all content in HeinOnline is composed of exact PDF replicas of original print material, source authenticity is never in doubt. Research relevant topics such as President Trump’s successful Supreme Court Nomination of Brett Kavanaugh in the History of Supreme Court Nominations database, or how Brexit will soon affect global air travel in the McGill Institute of Air and Space Law Publications.
Right to Be Forgotten: A Legal Research Guide by Carol A. Fichtelman is now available. This title is a great resource that clearly explains the brand-new legal concept of the right to be ‘erased’.
A new video is now available featuring Maryruth Storer, Director of the Orange County Law Library in Santa Ana, CA.
Visit us at the next trade show! Various HeinOnline representatives will be attending the following upcoming meetings:
- November 6, 2018 (Steve Roses and Tim Hooge attending)
- November 8-9, 2018 (Ben Boron attending)
- January 2-6, 2019 (Shannon Hein and Steve Roses attending)
An updated list of titles missing in HeinOnline is now available. If your library is in possession of this type of material and is willing to donate to us for digitization, please contact Chris Czopp at 716-882-2600. Please note: we would prefer to be able to unbind the material for scanning and would provide electronic copies (PDFs) and/or credit in return.
Additionally, a new section is available which contains a list of available and missing volumes of the U.S. Congressional Serial Set in HeinOnline.
A comprehensive list of all recent title and publication changes is now available.
