On March 14, 2012, the National People’s Congress of the People’s Republic of China substantially amended the country’s 1979 Criminal Procedure Law. The Law was first extensively revised in 1996; this second revision also affects a large number of articles, and expands the law from 225 to 290 articles. Following the new amendment, the supreme court of China also amended its judicial interpretation of the law. The second edition of this book provides new English translations to the amended Criminal Procedure Law and all the related Chinese official judicial and administrative interpretations.
About the Author
Robert H. Hu, Professor of Law
Robert H. Hu is a tenured Professor of Law at St. Mary’s University in San Antonio, Texas. From 2005 to 2021, he served as the Director of the Sarita Kenedy East Law Library at St. Mary’s. Born and raised in China, Professor Hu holds an LL.B. from Peking University (China) and an LL.M., an MS in Library and Information Science, and a Ph.D. in Education from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. Before joining St. Mary’s in 2005, he gained extensive experience as a law librarian and administrator at four other law schools across the United States, including the College of William & Mary, Wake Forest University, Gonzaga University, and Texas Tech University. At St. Mary’s, he teaches courses such as Conflict of Laws, Advanced Legal Research, Trademark and Unfair Competition Law, and International Intellectual Property Law, and directed the law school’s study abroad program in China from 2010 to 2019.
Professor Hu is the author of several influential books including Guide to China Copyright Law Studies (William S. Hein & Co., 2000), Research Guide to Chinese Patent Law and Practice (William S. Hein & Co., 2002), Research Guide to Chinese Trademark Law and Practice (Carolina Academic Press, 2009), Research Guide to Chinese Copyright Law (William S. Hein & Co., 2nd edition, 2016), and Research Guide to Chinese Patent Law and Practice (William S. Hein & Co., 2nd edition, 2022). In addition, he has published numerous articles on Chinese intellectual property law, American legal research, and law library management.
Professor Hu is an elected member of the American Law Institute (ALI) and is active in professional organizations such as the American Association of Law Schools (AALS), the American Bar Association (ABA), and the American Association of Law Libraries (AALL). He is also a former Fulbright scholar in the United States.
