Additional Information: Like many law reviews, the Michigan State International Law Review has a rich history and tradition. The International Law Review was first called the Detroit College of Law Journal of International Law and Practice when it was founded in 1992.

The impetus for the Journal came from students who were part of the school's International Law Concentration and the Center for Canadian-United States Law. Their goal was to meld the sometimes divergent worlds of international law scholarship and international law practice.

The founding students sent letters inviting scholars and practitioners to join an Honorary Advisory Committee to help select content for the Journal's first volume. The Committee ultimately included Ambassadors, Federal Judges, State Senators, International Law Attorneys, and Professors of International Law.

With the support of the administration, faculty, trustees, student government, and its newly formed Honorary Advisory Committee, the Journal published its first issue in the fall of 1992.

Now, over 20 years later, the Journal has experienced significant growth and change. Yearly membership rose from only 12 members in 1992 to over 40 members today. Meanwhile, in 1997, the Detroit College of Law moved from Detroit to its current home in East Lansing, Michigan. This move allowed the Law College to affiliate itself with Michigan State University and to broaden its international appeal. In 2011, the Journal changed its name to the Michigan State International Law Review.

With this proud history in mind, the Michigan State International Law Review is excited to continue to explore the development of international law in the years to come.
