Additional Information: The New England Journal on Criminal and Civil Confinement was founded in 1973 under the name of the New England Journal of Prison Law. This publication was created by students and faculty with an interest in correctional law who recognized the need for a written exchange of ideas on related subjects. This publication was the first of its kind and has achieved national recognition as a practical and scholarly resource for judges, legislators, scholars, students, prison officials, and prisoners. Articles contained in this publication have expressed diverse points of view on historical developments, current trends, and future proposals for correctional law and the prison community.

Commencing with the 1982-83 academic year, the Journal changed its name to the New England Journal on Criminal and Civil Confinement in order to accurately reflect its expanding perspective. Concurrently, the Journal entered a new phase in becoming a leading voice for the advancement of new ideas in the fields of criminal, juvenile, and civil confinement law.
