Additional Information for Utah Law Review
The Utah Law Review was founded in 1948 with the purpose of serving the interests of students and the bench and bar of the state and surrounding areas. Since then, its scope has expanded to include legal issues of importance both domestically and internationally. The Utah Law Review is a student-run organization, with all editorial and organizational decisions made by student-editors enrolled at the S.J. Quinney College of Law at the University of Utah. The Utah Law Review publishes four issues per year, with each issue containing approximately 200 pages of legal scholarship.

The Utah Law Review carefully selects and publishes articles from professors, judges, and practitioners throughout the world who are well known for their knowledge in diverse areas related to legal studies. Also published in the Utah Law Review are student-written pieces submitted by members of the Utah Law Review staff, which, like all published materials in the journal, are subject to a rigorous editorial process designed to refine and strengthen substance and format.

Some unique activities of the Utah Law Review include an annual review of important judicial decisions and legislative enactments that significantly affect Utah law. The Utah Law Review also publishes articles by scholars participating in the College's bi-annual legal symposium, the recent topics of which have included "Ethics, Bioethics and Family Law," "New Approaches to Comparative Law," "Restorative Justice," "Legal Archaeology" and "Crime Victims' Rights in the Twenty-First Century." The upcoming topic for fall 2004 is "Racial Profiling." The symposium focuses on an area of legal scholarship that is anticipated to be incredibly influential in the coming years and brings together scholars from throughout the country for academic discussion. In the months following the symposium, the participants write articles that are published in a special symposium edition of the Utah Law Review.
