Various sources allowed Ford to discover the previously anonymous writers of each of the essays, most of whom were prominent in administering the Constitution or opposing its development and were largely responsible for the resulting tendencies for the U.S. government. Ford's work sheds new light upon the proceedings in the FederalConvention by furnishing clues as to why the Constitution was so strongly supported by some and so adamantly opposed by others. The author also explains the important roleplayed by personal and state interests.
