ESSAYS ON THE CONSTITUTION OF THE UNITED STATES, PUBLISHED DURING ITS DISCUSSION BY THE PEOPLE, 1787-1788

Ford, Paul Leicester

Item #: 4255
Published: Getzville; William S. Hein & Co., Inc.; 2002.

Series: HEIN'S PRESERVATION PROGRAM
Subjects: CONSTITUTIONAL LAW

From an examination of 40 files of newspapers scattered in various public and private libraries, Ford selected a series of essays on the Constitution and reprinted them in this volume. Various sources allowed Ford to discover the previously anonymous writers of each of the essays, most of whom were prominent in administering the Constitution or opposing its development and were largely responsible for the resulting tendencies for the U.S. government. Ford's work sheds new light upon the proceedings in the FederalConvention by furnishing clues as to why the Constitution was so strongly supported by some and so adamantly opposed by others. The author also explains the important roleplayed by personal and state interests.
