This publication of the Carnegie Endowment for InternationalPeace contains "a collection of conventions, recommenda-tions, resolutions, reports and motions adopted by the sixfirst International Conferences of the American States anddocuments relating to the organization of the Conferences."The gatherings brought together 21 republics from North andSouth America in 1889, 1901, 1906, 1910, 1923 and 1928,advancing international goodwill. They also sponsored thePan American Union. Canada was not among the "states" inattendance, where among the significant international issuesexplored were a uniform system of weights and measures, anintercontinental railway, an international monetary system,an international American bank and extradition of criminals.
