Two other U.S. Attorneys hadbeen told to resign earlier in 2006. When these removalsbecame public, members of Congress began to raise concernsabout the reasons for the removals, including whether theywere intended to influence certain prosecutions. Beginningin March 2007, the Office of the Inspector General (OIG) andthe Office of Professional Responsibility (OPR) conductedthis joint investigation into the removals of these U.S.Attorneys.
