A title in the Lawbook Exchange series Foundations of theLaws of War, Joseph Perkovich (General Editor), Hollandanalyzed the proceedings of the international conventionsheld at St. Petersburg in 1868, Geneva in 1906 and the Haguein 1899 and 1907. He found that they provided enough commonmaterial to create a code of land warfare, so he synthesizedthe texts of these conventions into a code containing 140numbered articles divided into 5 sections. Each article isannotated with references to the conventions. Compact, clearly written and well organized, this work was a standardauthority during the First World War. Still cited today, itis also a primary source for the study of the law of landwarfare from 1868 to the mid-twentieth century.Reprinted by The Lawbook Exchange, Ltd.Distributed by William S.
