The membershipregister of this particular inn during its last 250 years ispreserved in Gray's Inn, and the editor has addedbiographical details (especially of the attorneys) wherethey have been discovered. This is in itself an importantwork of biographical reference, but the introduction alsocontains the first scholarly history of Barnard's Inn frombeginning to end. There are a number of plates showing,amongst other things, what the inn looked like.
