This volume contains the text and translation of tworadically differing versions of a hitherto unprintedtreatise on criminal procedure written in the latethirteenth century. The treatise is primarily a set ofprecedents for the conduct of appeals of felony beforeitinerant justices, and contains also cases illustrative ofgaol delivery procedure. The work was probably intended forlaymen - justices and officials - rather than pleaders oradvocates. The introduction deals with manuscripts, theauthorship and date of the treatise, and with selectedpoints of legal interest. An appendix contains atranscription of a second, less important, treatise calledTractatus de Corona, an epitome of certain passages inBracton.
