The Code of Federal Regulations (CFR) is the codification of the general and permanent rules and regulations published in the Federal Register by the executive departments and agencies of the federal government of the United States.
After rules and regulations have been adopted, they are first published in the Federal Register, then organized and codified in the Code of Federal Regulations. The CFR is divided into 50 titles that represent broad areas subject to federal regulation. Each title is broken down further into chapters, parts, sections, and paragraphs. While new regulations are continually becoming effective, the physical printing of the CFR is updated once every calendar year.
