DISCOVERY AND ORGANIZATIONAL TOOLS
Author Profile Pages
Showcasing, promoting, and contextualizing an author's scholarly work.
Author Profile Pages are an excellent way to showcase, promote, and contextualize the scholarly work of individual authors throughout HeinOnline. When any author is identified and attributed to a HeinOnline work, an Author Profile Page is automatically created for that individual. The page displays a list of that author’s works as well as their ScholarRank statistics—their scholarly impact ranking, based on a number of factors and relative to other authors in HeinOnline.
Any author for which a profile has been created can choose to enhance and edit their profile pages to include a photo, biographical information, and links to the author’s website and social media accounts. Librarians can also request to become an Author Profile Admin, allowing them to edit the Author Profile Pages of researchers affiliated with their institutions. The author or the registered admin can further connect a specific HeinOnline profile with that particular author’s ORCID record, improving attribution, ensuring accuracy, and deepening scholarly context.
Author Profile Pages provide a number of benefits for both the individual authors themselves and general HeinOnline users. Keep reading to discover all that these profile pages have to offer, or visit the section of our Knowledge Base dedicated to this particular tool.

Make Your Author Profile Page Stand Out
Enhance an Author Profile Page
If an author already has articles in HeinOnline, a basic version of their Author Profile Page will automatically be created to compile their articles and provide a ranking. However, authors can feel free to enhance that page beyond its basic form by adding a photo, personal biography, and other information.
Simply submit a request below and a HeinOnline Support representative will enhance your profile page according to the information you specify.
Edit an Enhanced Author Profile Page
Authors who have enhanced their Author Profile Page to include at least their email addresses may submit edits to their profile or may edit their own profile information directly through MyHein, HeinOnline’s personal research tool. Authors can access their own edit portal from within the MyHein account created under the same email address used to enhance the profile page. Learn more.
University and college librarians may further request to become administrators so that they can edit faculty profiles for their institutions. Once their email address is authorized, librarians can sign into their own MyHein accounts (created under the same email address) to access the edit portal. Simply submit a request below to request administrator rights for author profiles.
Connect an Enhanced Profile Page with ORCID
ORCID is an independent, non-profit organization that provides a persistent identifier (an ORCID iD) to distinguish a particular author from other researchers, while simultaneously showcasing the author’s research output and activity. ORCID is integrated into many systems used by publishers, funders, institutions, and other research-related services. Learn more about ORCID.
With HeinOnline’s ORCID integration, authors can connect their enhanced Author Profile Page with their ORCID record. After the connection has been established for a particular author, a bidirectional link will exist for that author between ORCID and HeinOnline. This allows for authors’ HeinOnline works to automatically display on their ORCID record, and simultaneously, for their ORCID record to automatically display on their HeinOnline Author Profile Page.
