Started From the Bottom Now We’re Here
When HeinOnline was initially launched in 2000, it had a total of 270,000 pages across 23 flagship law journals. Since then, our database has grown by more than 199 million pages and 3,000 journals. What’s more, HeinOnline now contains 100+ databases covering subjects such as COVID, gender studies, religion, taxation, bankruptcy, and more. Wondering what 200 million pages is the equivalent to? Check out the infographic below.
Now, let’s take a look at some content milestones over the years:
- By 2004, HeinOnline contained more than 13 million pages, far exceeding any other online image-based law or law-related product. In addition, HeinOnline had added every U.S. Supreme Court case and exceeded 500 journals.
- HeinOnline surpassed 21 million pages in 2006, and the Law Journal Library alone contained more than 900 titles. The ever-popular Legal Classics database also surpassed 1,000 titles. But the biggest reveal that year was the addition of a fully-searchable Code of Federal Regulations database.
- In 2009, HeinOnline contained 50 million pages and introduced Branding for subscribers.
- Another milestone was hit in 2012, bringing HeinOnline to more than 75 million pages and nearly 1 million pages of congressional hearings alone. This was also the year our Knowledge Base was introduced.
- In 2015, HeinOnline held more than 125 million pages. We also released an updated, more modern interface.
- 2017 was a big year for milestones: HeinOnline contained more than 150 million pages, 65 databases, and 2,400 journals.
- In 2020, HeinOnline turned 20, and the Hein company turned 100! By the end of this year, we surpassed 190 million pages.
