Highlights from the Past Month

New Civil Rights and Social Justice database

In the midst of Black Lives Matter protests, and what some are calling the next civil rights movement, HeinOnline is pleased to offer a new database, Civil Rights and Social Justice. This database brings together a diverse offering of publications covering civil rights in the United States. It is included free of charge for all U.S. and international Core subscribers and for libraries of any other interested organization or institution.

We Released the Electoral College Subcollection in the U.S. Presidential Library

Users can now find within the U.S. Presidential Library, the Electoral College subcollection dedicated to explaining how the electoral college system works, the history of its formation, debates around its efficiency, as well as efforts to reform and even abolish it.

New Feature: Manage Your Search History with MyHein

HeinOnline has always given its users the option to see a listing of their search history, but a new feature now allows MyHein users better management and organization of all of their previous search queries.

We Highlighted 5 Key Issues To Research before the Presidential Election

The 2020 presidential election has proven to be the most debated, divisive, and important election of our time. No matter which side you are leaning towards, there are key topics that each voter should be educated on when casting their vote. We looked at where each candidate stands on 5 key issues, and how to research these topics using HeinOnline.

We Showcased How to Locate the Text of a Public Law

Have you ever tried to locate the text of a public law or an Act, but didn’t have a U.S. Statutes at Large citation or a public law number handy? This tip will showcase how to utilize three different sources in HeinOnline to locate the text of a public law using its popular name.

We Provided an Update on What’s New in World Constitutions

Back in July, we updated researchers on the content that was released in the World Constitutions Illustrated database from April to June 2020. Since our last content news update, we have updated 26 countries and added163 new titles to the World Constitutions Illustrated database.

We Held a Partner Webinar with AALL

HeinOnline experts Steve Roses and Lauren Mattiuzzo provided an AALL member webinar where they discussed HeinOnline’s newest research databases and how to utilize specific tools to maximize your legal research experience.

Major Database Updates

We’ve added a ton of content to some of our most popular HeinOnline databases! Check out the substantial additions this month:

  • The Law Journal Library continues to grow with the addition of 10 new journals.
  • More than 160 CRS Reports, nearly 170 hearings, and 4 committee prints were added to the U.S. Congressional Documents database.
  • More than 140 titles were added to Legal Classics.
  • Criminal Justice & Criminology has been updated to include 55 new titles.
  • 40 new titles were added to the World Constitutions Illustrated database.
  • Spinelli’s Law Library Reference Shelf grew by 15 titles.
  • Eleven titles were added to the U.S. Federal Legislative History Library, including two new legislative histories by Bill Manz.
  • 8 titles were added to the American Indian Law Collection
