The purpose of this Brief is to give law librarians a quickoverview of the status (or lack thereof) of staffdevelopment programs in libraries similar to their own, aswell as some starting points for updating or developing astaff development program. The Brief consists of responsesfrom a survey of law libraries in fall of 2004, as well asan annotated bibliography of recent sources on content andcreation of staff development programs in libraries. Thegoal of the survey was to gather information on how manylibraries had their own staff development program, as wellas data on what libraries without these programs did to keeptheir staff's skills current.
