A few months ago, we updated researchers on the content that was released in the World Constitutions Illustrated database from May to July 2019. Read below to find out what new documents have been added to this ever-growing database.
Updates from July to Date
Since our last content news update, we have updated 22 countries and added more than 140 new titles to the World Constitutions Illustrated database.

Algeria
New editions of the 1963, 1976, 1989 constitutions, and current text of the Constitution of 2016 are now available.
Austria
Now available is the amending text to the Federal Constitutional Law. Also included is the consolidated text of the Federal Chancellery in German.
Brazil
Texts of the amending laws of the Constitution of 1988 are available from the Diario Oficial, from the Officers of the Presidency, and from the Chamber of Deputies. Also available is the current consolidated texts included from the Senate, from the Offices of the Presidency, and from the Chamber of Deputies in Portuguese.
Colombia
The Constitution of 1991 was amended three times by the new presidential administration. Now available are the amending texts with consolidated translations.
Costa Rica
The Constitution of 1949 was amended three times between May and July. Now available are all amendments from the official gazette, La Gaceta. Additionally, users can find the Spanish language consolidated texts from the Supreme Tribunal of Elections to 2015 and 2019 and the latest Spanish language consolidated text of the offices of the Procurator General.
Finland
The latest English translation of the Constitution of 1999/2000 as amended to Law No. 817/2018 of October 5, 2018 is now available.
Germany
An English translation is now available for the Basic Law of 1949 to reflect the amendments which were adopted on March 28, 2019.
Hungary
Now available is the current English translation of the consolidated text of the Fundamental Law of 2011/2012 which went into force on January 1, 2019.
India
The texts of the controversial Constitution Order, 2019, and the Jammu and Kashmir Reorganisation Act, 2019, both involving amendment of the Constitution of 1949-1950, are now available.
Kazakhstan
Now available are updated English translations of the consolidated translations of the Constitution of 1995, which include amendment of Law No. 238-VI ZRK of March 23, 2019.
Mali
French official texts have been comprehensively updated with 18 documents from the Journal Officiel covering the period 1960-1992. This includes constitutional documents from the Federation of Mali, the First, Second, and Third Republics, as well as interim documents between them.
Mexico
The Constitution of 1917 was amended for the sixth time in 2019 by the decree published in the official gazette, Diario Oficial. Now available is the text of the amending law, and the consolidated texts of the Electoral Tribunal, the National Juridical Order, and the Chamber of Deputies. Translations have been updated accordingly.
New Zealand
New reprints for 18 of the Acts which comprise the multi-document Constitution of New Zealand are now available.
North Macedonia
Now available are the Albanian and Macedonian texts of the original text of the Constitution of 1991, as well as a complete collection of Amendments I-XXXVI. The most recent amendments, XXXIII-XXXVI, which include the change of the name of the State, are also included with an English translation.
Peru
The Ministry of Justice produces two series of official consolidated texts of the Constitution of 1993. We include the 4th edition as amended to 2015 and the 12th, 13th, and 14th editions as amended to 2018 and 2019.
Senegal
The Constitution of 2001 was amended on May 11, 2018 and again on May 14, 2019, which eliminated the office of the Prime Minister. Now available are texts of both amending laws in French, and the consolidated texts of 2018 and 2019. Translations have been updated accordingly.
Slovak Republic
Now available is the current consolidated text of the National Council. We previously included the Ministry of Justice.
Sudan
The most recent documents which provide the constitutional framework for Sudan for the next three years are now available. They include the Political Agreement for the Establishing of Governing Structures and Institutions in the Transition Period of July 17, 2019 and the Draft Constitutional Charter for the 2019 Transition Period in August 2019. Both of these documents were added in Arabic and English.
Togo
The 29 Articles of the Constitution of the 4th Republic of 1992 were amended by Law No. 2019-003 of May 15, 2019. The amending laws are now available with updated translations.
Ukraine
Six Ukrainian texts have been added concerning the Constitutions of 1929 and 1937. Also available is the latest amending law of February 7, 2019 for the Constitution of 1996, and the latest text in both English and Ukrainian from the Constitutional Court.
United Kingdom
Four recent Acts of the Parliament have been added, including:
- The European Union Withdrawal Act of 2018
- The North Ireland Act 2018
- Courts and Tribunals Act 2018
- Northern Ireland Act 2019
United States of America
The 2018 Centennial Edition (Interim Edition) mandated by Congress and dating from the 1952/1953 edition by E.S. Corwin, is now available.
