Highlights from the Past Month

New Civil Rights and Social Justice Database

Today, HeinOnline releases a new database, Civil Rights and Social Justice, included in all HeinOnline Core subscriptions and available free to any organization or institution. During this crucial year in history, Hein is proud to offer a resource that can help its customers understand the roots of the fight for equality, how far our nation has come in that fight, and how much we have yet to improve. Learn more about the database.

We Released a New Executive Privilege Database

To help understand the mighty but ill-defined power of executive privilege, HeinOnline’s new database dedicated to the topic provides primary and secondary source material such as government documents from the executive, legislative, and judicial branches and related books and scholarly articles.

New Feature: Mark Your Favorite Databases in HeinOnline!

Do you have favorite databases in HeinOnline that you use on a regular basis? Do you wish they were easily accessible? Well, thanks to a customer suggestion, users can now mark databases as favorites to push them to the top of their HeinOnline welcome page using their MyHein account. Check out this tutorial to see the feature in action.

New Sports Law Titles Available from Hackney Publications

Issues in collegiate and professional sports are a hot-button research topic. For several years, we have partnered with Hackney Publications, a publisher of sports periodicals, to bring relevant and exciting sports content to our users. We introduced three titles initially, and are pleased to announce the recent addition of nine new Hackney publications. Learn about the newly added titles.

New Issue Added of Preview of United States Supreme Court Cases

Volume 48 #1, the first issue of Preview of United States Supreme Court Cases for this Supreme Court term, has been published and is now available online. Learn more about this resource.

We Honored the Passing of Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg

Toward the end of September, the nation lost one of its biggest social justice warriors, Ruth Bader Ginsburg. She was the second female Supreme Court Justice, after Sandra Day O’Connor, to serve on the Court, and was well known for her fiery dissents, her tireless fight for gender equality, and her ability to overcome adversity. Read about her life and legacy.

We Researched Supreme Court Nominee Amy Coney Barrett

On September 26th, President Donald Trump nominated Amy Coney Barrett, a conservative federal appeals court judge, to succeed Ginsburg. If confirmed, Barrett would keep the number of women serving on the Court at three, joining Justices Sonia Sotomayor and Elena Kagan. She would also become the youngest member of the Court, and most importantly, she would shape a 6-3 conservative majority. Explore Barrett’s career and where she stands on major hot topics.

More Was Added to the U.S. Congressional Serial Set

Since its initial release in October 2018, nearly 6.5 million pages and more than 8,000 volumes have been added to the Serial Set in HeinOnline. In the past month alone, the Serial Set grew by more than 650 volumes and 330,000 pages. Read up on this month’s Secret of the Serial Set—an exploration of the Red Scares that dominated the first half of the twentieth century and forever impacted U.S. politics, defense, and foreign policy.

We’ve added a ton of content to some of our most popular HeinOnline databases! Check out the substantial additions this month:

  • The Law Journal Library continues to grow with the addition of 11 new journals.
  • We added 115 titles to the Legal Classics Library.
  • Nearly 200 Congressional Research Reports98 hearings, and 12 committee prints were added to the U.S. Congressional Documents database.
  • GAO Reports and Comptroller Decisions has grown by more than 100 documents.
  • 96 titles were added to the American Enterprise Institute database.
  • 29 titles were added to History of International Law.
  • Criminal Justice & Criminology grew by 17 titles.
  • 11 titles were added to New York Legal Research Library.

New Journals Added to HeinOnline: August and September 2024

Over the past two months, we have added 4,256 new articles to the Law Journal Library with updates to 307 existing journals and 14 new active serials. These titles cover subjects including constitutional law, international law, and more!
